Letter of Appreciation to Supporters (11/08/06)

I want to thank the supporters of our campaign for Congress. There is a bond among people who "Dream the impossible dream" and "Go where the brave dare not go" which is to be cherished. You are not the people who wave the flag with one hand and support the destruction of our nation's values with the other. You are people of principle who look far beyond greed and self interest to justice for all and the preservation of the real American dream. I will always remember what you have done and will be eternally grateful.

As I started the campaign for US Congress from the Ohio 7th District, I said that I could afford to lose an election but I would not give up my principles, my integrity or my self respect. I have lost the election but I have retained those values. The manner in which I conducted the campaign was not, in many estimates, politically smart. Many said that to discuss many issues in detail was to increase the likelihood that voters who agreed with most of my positions but disagreed with some would vote for my opponent with whom they shared nothing. This indeed did happen with some (and perhaps many) voters. But, it is still the right thing to do, and I will do it again.

The solutions which I provide in my web site have not been credibly challenged by anyone over the eight months they have been before the public. They have been reviewed by tens of thousands. Indeed, they have been ignored by many. Notably, they have been ignored by the editors of the Dayton Daily News and the Columbus Dispatch. I cannot now champion these solutions in Congress, but I offer them to any member of Congress who will.

I recently reviewed my exit plan for Iraq with a Major General in the Ohio Army National Guard and he concurred with all of it. My plan to produce a budget surplus in 2007 is solid and considered common sense by those well versed in economics and history. These solutions as well as the other forty or so in my web site remain available to any who will promote them. Possibly, my former opponent would similarly place his solutions to national problems into the public domain if he had any.

Barring a return to sanity, I will again seek the office of Congressman from the Ohio 7th District in 2008. I would be honored to welcome your participation.
