2012 Plans I have committed to run for the state legislature in 2012 (District 73). The filing deadline is 12/7/11 (I am updating this on 12/2/11). Congressional districts in Ohio are uncertain. The Republican legislature passed a ridiculously gerrymandered map as HB319. (See http://drawthelinemidwest.org/ohio/ ) Democrats are gathering signatures to put that law on hold. I am working hard on that effort. Meanwhile the state Dem party is encouraging any interested in the office to file against the HB319 map to be sure. As of this date, those taking out a petition or filing in the 10th district (Greene, part of Montgomery, Fayette, Pickaway, and most of Fairfield Counties) include a complete crook, a blue dog, a socialist, a man with a weak voting record, a man with no voting record at all, and another for whom I can find no record. My hope is that our HB319 petition is successful and we get a March filing date (June primary), better districts, and better candidates.
