In 2010 we spent $25,700 and received $11,600 in donations. I loaned the campaign the $14,100 difference. For the 2006 and 2008 campaigns, I forgave an earlier loan of $10,000. So, I have put in $24,100. That doesn't count several thousand dollars in uncompensated gas and other unreported expenses. If you would like to help pay off the debt, you can contribute by sending a check or by credit card through ActBlue.com, a secure web site used by Democratic candidates. ActBlue provides the option of monthly donations for a chosen number of months. $5 or $10 each month until November 2012 would add up to a substantial donation. Contributions are not tax deductable. Federal
Election law requires us to report the name, mailing address, occupation
and name of employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in
an election cycle. Federal law prohibits contributions from the
general treasury of corporations, labor organizations and national
banks. It prohibits contributing another person's funds and
contributions from foreign nationals who lack permanent resident status,
and federal government contractors. The maximum contribution from an
individual is $2400 ($4800 from a couple from joint funds). |
